supplements: allergy relief

dog and cat health and wellness products
(Item #: HA-10341)

Prevention of pet allergies may not always be possible, but with proper diet and Allergy Relief, which contains a specially selected blend of natural ingredients, allergies may be managed and relieved.  There are 5 types of pet allergies:

Food Allergies

The most common symptom of food-based allergies is scratching, due to skin irritation.  Many foods contain ingredients which can cause an allergic reaction to your pet, such as beef, chicken, pork, lamb, fish, eggs, diary products, grains and corn.

Atopy (inhalant allergy)

Atopy is the most common of all pet allergies, which is caused by environmental factors, such as dust mites, molds, house dust, human dander, feathers or pollen.  Signs include excessive chewing, licking and scratching at the face, paws, abdomen, armpits and genital area.

Flea Allergies

Flea allergies are not caused by the flea itself, but rather the flea's saliva. A common symptom of flea allergies is scratching at the tail area which causes hair loss, scabs and sores.

Bacterial Allergies

A pet's skin normally harbors Staph bacteria. Usually, this bacteria does not have any affect on your dog but some pets do develop a sensitivity to it, causing an allergic reaction. Symptoms include crusts on the skin and patches of hair loss due to scratching.

Contact Allergies

Contact allergies are the least common of pet allergies. This type of allergy produces swelling, redness, itching and hair loss. Common contact allergens include flea collars, plastic food bowls, pet sweaters, plants, grass or wool bedding.

The proprietary blend in Allergy Relief contains an extract of Capparis spinosa (caper), which is rich in flavonoids as well as powerful antioxidants.

The symptoms of an allergic reaction are unleashed when the immune system comes into contact with an allergen, starting a host of events which culminate in the release of histamine by immune cells called mastocytes. A number of medications which provide relief from allergy symptom are termed antihistamines as they inhibit the release of histamine, but they often cause side-effects, such as drowsiness.

Studies have shown that this proprietary blend has antihistamine-like properties.  When compared with a leading antihistamine medication, the proprietary blend had similar efficacy in the case of respiratory allergies, and was more effective against food allergies. Both inhibited the release of histamine and its associated symptoms.

supplements: healthy gums & teeth

dog and cat health and wellness products
(Item #: HA-10340)

Most older pets are afflicted with some degree of tooth and gum disease.  It's estimated that 85 percent of canines over the age of two have some degree of periodontal disease.

Unlike humans, pets normally do not get cavities due to their low sugar diet. However, oral disease (plaque, gingivitis and periodontal disease) is the most commonly diagnosed pet health problem, especially as they get older.

As in humans, oral problems begin when bacteria (aerobic bacteria) combine with saliva and food particles, forming a sticky substance called plaque that forms between the teeth and gums.  Plaque, which is invisible, is an ideal medium for the growth of bacteria. Ultimately, the bacteria irritate the gums, which become red, tender and swollen. This condition is known as gingivitis and is reversible through prompt treatment by a veterinarian. One of the first sign of oral disease is bad breath (halitosis).

Although medical treatment for gingivitis and periodontal disease are improving, the best strategy is prevention.  With proper diet, regular cleaning and regular supplementation with Healthy Gums & Teeth, such oral problems may be minimized, and your pet’s quality of life extended.

supplements: Joint Kare

supplements: Joint Kare
dog health and wellness products
(Item #: HA-10119)

Water, protein, carbohydrates, and fats are all necessary elements for a complete, balanced diet. Yet, these are only the starting point for a pets' healthy diet; vitamins and minerals are essential as well.

Because vitamins and minerals are so necessary, AAFCO (Association of Animal Feed Control Officials) has set recommended daily levels like our RDAs formulated by the FDA. It is important to understand that these levels, the same guidelines commercial food manufacturers are required to follow, are not intended for promoting optimum health, but are only the minimum levels needed to prevent deficiency in the "average" pet. Senior dogs, or dogs who have experienced deficiencies from living in compromised circumstances need extra help with joint care.

To make sure your dog is receiving optimum levels of joint enhancing vitamins, minerals, enzymes and herbals, try Joint Kare. Joint Kare nutritional joint care supplement provides your dog with supplements that may be left out of a "food only" diet.

supplements: radiant coat

supplements: radiant coat
dog health and wellness products
(Item #: HA-10120)

Studies have shown that larger doses of vitamins and trace minerals can help improve cell function and enhance overall health. For proper cellular function and growth, these vitamins and minerals should at least meet the minimum standards set for a dog's age and size. How do I know my dog is receiving the proper levels?

Meeting with a vet will help you find the appropriate level for your dog. A good indicator is your dog's fur. A dog's coat is one of the first areas to show deficiencies in diet and also immune system instability. Hot spots and allergies can be controlled by providing the proper nutrients for a balanced immune system.

To make sure your dog is receiving optimum levels of skin and coat enhancing vitamins and minerals, try Radiant Coat. Radiant Coat provides your dog with supplements that may be left out of a "food only" diet.

dog health and wellness products
(Item #: HA-10121)

Although certain animals have more nervous temperaments than others, traumatic events, or exposure to particular stressors can make a normally calm animal stressed and perturbed.

Fireworks, a trip to the vet, thunderstorms, small children, an abusive situation, change of owner, hair dryers, change of house, the addition of another pet -- these are just a few of the situations that can cause heightened levels of anxiety in your pet. Many pets are also exposed to a variety of day-to-day stresses and are often left alone for hours at a time, frequently in fairly confined environments.

These factors can contribute to high levels of stress and anxiety. In addition, pets are very attuned to their owner’s stress levels. If you are anxious and stressed, this will impact your pet.

To make sure your dog is receiving the proper mix of stress reducing compounds and herbals, try Kalm & Gentle. Kalm & Gentle provides your dog with supplements that may be left out of a "food only" diet.

  • Helps ease dogs through stressful events - travel, boarding, grooming, storms, show competition, separation anxiety, strangers, etc.
